Bài 1: Complete the sentences with have to/has to/had to.

Ngữ pháp have to và must

Cấu trúc must và have to là 2 cấu trúc thường xuyên bị lầm lẫn bởi về cơ bản chúng đều mang ý nghĩa là “phải” làm gì đó. Tuy vậy, chúng lại không thể thay thế cho nhau bởi những điểm khác nhau như sau:

  • Cấu trúc must:

– Ở dạng khẳng định: Must thể hiện sự bắt buộc mang tính chất chủ quan của người nói.

Ví dụ: You must be at the party at 7pm. ( Bạn phải có mặt ở buổi tiệc lúc 7h tối.)

– Ở dạng phủ định: Must sử dụng để diễn tả sự cấm đoán, có thể liên quan đến quy định, quy luật.

Ví dụ: You must not to drive after drinking alcohol. ( Bạn không được lái xe sau khi uống đồ uống có cồn.)

  • Cấu trúc have to

– Ở dạng khẳng định: Have to mang ý nghĩa là sự bắt buộc khách quan.

Ví dụ: You have to give her your answer today. ( Bạn phải đưa cho cô ấy câu trả lời vào hôm nay.)

– Ở dạng phủ định: Have to sử dụng để diễn tả rằng không phải làm gì đó.

Ví dụ: You don’t have to wait for me. ( Bạn không cần phải chờ tôi đâu.)
