By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

WARM-UP/REVIEW (5 minutes) Aim: To motivate students and help students remember school objects. | |
*Game: “What’s the picture?” - Set up the activity. - Do the chant from page 10 (Track 17) to warm up and energize the class. - Invite a student to come to the front of the class and draw one of the objects from the chant. - Ask the student to draw the picture on the board for the rest of the class to guess what it is. - The first student to guess the object correctly comes to the front to draw a second picture. - Divide the class into groups of five and tell them to repeat the activity, using a piece of blank paper. - Praise students if they have done well. àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can say school objects correctly and fluently. - Task completed: Students can ask say school objects. - Task uncompleted: Students are unable to say school objects. |

*Lead-in: Use flashcards 108-110 to present the vocabulary. - Use flashcards to introduce the new vocabulary. Hold up the cards and say the words for students to repeat. Point to real items in the classroom if possible. - Hold the cards up in a different order for students to repeat. - Remark on students’ pronunciation. àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can pronounce the words correctly. - Task completed: Students can pronounce the words. - Task uncompleted: Students are unable to pronounce the words. *Listen and point. Repeat (Track 145) - Point to the pictures. Say the words and let the students repeat. - Play the recording. Ask students to predict what the song is about (a classroom). - Play the song all the way through for students to listen; then play it again as they follow the words in their books. - Play it again, stopping after each line for students to repeat. - Play the recording for students to sing along. - Call on two groups/students to perform for the class. - Check students’ pronunciation. Praise students if they have done well. àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can sing the song nicely. - Task completed: Students can sing the song. - Task uncompleted: Students are unable to sing the song. *Sing and do - Ask students to look at the pictures and decide together what the actions should be for this song. - Practice the actions with the class. - Play the recording for students to sing the song and do the actions. - Ask two groups/students to sing and do the actions in front of the class.
