*Lead-in: Use Flashcards 82-87to present the vocabulary. - Write Party on the board and see if students can tell any words related to parties. - Use flashcards to present the celebrations vocabulary for the lesson. Hold them up one at a time and say the words for students to repeat. - Hold up the flashcards in a different order and repeat. - Place the flashcards in different places around the room. - Call out a word and students point or run to that flashcard. - Remark on students’ pronunciation. àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can pronounce the words correctly and fluently. - Task completed: Students can pronounce the words. - Task uncompleted: Students are unable to pronounce the words. *Listen and point. Repeat. (Track 93) - Point to the pictures. Say the words and let the students repeat. - Play the recording. Have students point to the correct words. - Play the recording again. Repeat as many times as needed. - Have students say the chant as a class, without the recording. - Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and do the actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm of the chant. - Praise students if they have done well. àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can say the chant correctly and fluently. - Task completed: Students can say the chant. - Task uncompleted: Students are unable to say the chant. |

*Game: “Mime the word” - Set up the activity. - Ask students to stand at their desk. - Say a word, e.g. dance. Let students mime dancing. - Continue with other words related to celebration. - In pairs, ask students to mime an action and their partner shouts out the word they are miming. - Call some volunteers to perform for the class. - Praise the students. Give feedback. àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can identify and say the words correctly. - Task completed: Students canidentify and say the words. - Task uncompleted: Students are unable toidentify and say the words. |
- Listen to the teacher’s instruction. - Stand at their desk. - Follow the teacher. - Continue playing the game. - Work in pairs, mime an action and their partner shouts out the word they are miming. - Perform for the class. |
