A. Lý thuyết cấu trúc But for

1. Định nghĩa

 But for: nếu không có, thường dùng trong câu điều kiện loại 2 và loại 3. Cùng tìm hiểu chi tiết về cách dùng của từ này nhé!

2. Cách dùng

a. But for trong câu điều kiện loại 2

- But for + N/V-ing, S + would/could/might/… + V

- But for the fact that + N/V-ing, S + would/could/might/… + V

Ví dụ: But for the fact that she advised me, I would have made a mistake.

(Nếu không phải vì cô ấy đã khuyên tôi, tôi đã mắc sai lầm.)

b. But for trong câu điều kiện loại 3

- But for + N/V-ing, S + would/could/might/… + have PII

- But for the fact that + N/V-ing, S + would/could/might/… + have PII

Ví dụ: But for her warning, I would have been in danger.

(Nếu không có lời cảnh báo của cô ấy, tôi đã gặp nguy hiểm.)

6. But for his lack of knowledge about the party, he would have come.

7. But for our delay in arriving on time, we would have caught the train.

8. But for her insufficient practice, she would have won the competition.

9. But for her busy schedule, she would volunteer at the local shelter.

d. Minh might have gone to the market to pick me up, if it hadn’t been for her broken motorbike.
