The invention of stethoscopes
Invented by a French physician, René Théophile Hyacinthe Laënnec, the stethoscope is a vital medical tool for (26) doctors to listen to one body's internal sounds that are made by the heart, lungs and so on. The word "stethoscope" originates from the Greek words (27) mean "chest" and "observe". This device was created from an embarrassing situation in which the doctor was supposed to press his ear to a female patient's chest for a medical check-up based on the traditional method. However, he used a sheet of paper and rolled it into a tube to hear the patient's heartbeat. This moment led to the invention of the first wooden stethoscope in 1816. Since then, many other doctors (28) to perfect that invention. Until the early 1960s and the late 1970s, a Havard Medical School professor, David Littman made and improved a new stethoscope which was not (29) as the previous ones and had better acoustics. Today, a digital stethoscope which uses artificial intelligence is expected to be the future of stethoscopes. It will be connected to a smartphone app that can store the patients' data and (30) heart problems within seconds. Dear Edward,
I'm travelling around Vietnam with my friends, Jason and Walton. Yesterday, we visited Mỹ Son Sanctuary in Quảng Nam, one of the most historic sites in Vietnam as well as Southeast Asia. Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was built from the 4th century to the 13th century CE. The site is located in a picturesque valley surrounded by high mountains in Quảng Nam and near the start of the Thu Bồn River. The site has a collection of at least 70 ruined Hindu temples that the Chăm built to worship their gods. We arrived at Mỹ Son at around 7 a.m., had breakfast and then began exploring the historic temples. Some of them had some amazing statues of Hindu gods. I was mostly impressed by the good condition of the temple walls. Most wall bricks are over 1,000 years old but still beautifully red. We took lots of photos and made some clips of the temples.
I also learn a lot about the historical values of the site from a local tour guide. We heard about Chăm people's history, watched a Chăm performance with dancing and live music. We also rented some traditional Chăm costumes. I looked quite funny in them, but I kind of enjoyed it. It was so much fun! I bought some souvenirs on the site. I can't wait to give them to my family. Our visit to Mỹ Sơn was really an amazing experience for those who love historical structures. You should definitely visit it.

Trân Thượng Xuyên was a loyal general to the Ming Dynasty in China in the 17th century. However, his

Trần Thượng Xuyên asked Nguyễn Lord, whose name was Nguyễn Phúc Tần, to allow his family and amy to
live there and work for Nguyen Lord's government. Nguyễn Phúc Tân accepted and ordered Trân Thượng
Xuyên and his amy to live in Bàn Lân, which is Biên Hòa City today. Gradually, they became a part of Vietnamese history, and they were called Hoa Kiều or Người Hoa (the Hoa people) thanks to their contribution to building Nông Nại Đại Phố, which is called Cù Lao Phố today, a bustling commercial centre in almost 100 years in the south of Vietnam.

One of the most historical buildings on the island was Ông Temple, which was built in 1684. The temple had a unique structure and became a place of worship of the locals. In 1776, Cù Lao Pho was destroyed by The Tây Sơn army, and the Hoa had to leave this area.

Technology is developing, so it has enabled us to do some amazing things. The question is: "What will schools be like in 20 years' time?".
Schools have experienced a transformation over the last 80 years - from chalkboards to interactive smart boards and from notebooks to iPads. The concept of a teacher standing at the front facing rows of desks with students who listen and take notes is gradually becoming a thing of the past. Digital classrooms will enable students to take part in learning activities anytime and anywhere. Some people believe that it is only a matter of time before cyborg guides begin to replace teachers in schools. However, it's more likely that robots will be used to support teachers in their work. For instance, robots can be used to make learning activities more individual. This can help to improve a student’s learning as it will help students learn in the best way.
Besides, virtual reality headsets will play a bigger role in the schools of the future. As we are in the digital era, a world of information is at your fingertips with a click of a button or a simple voice command. We are moving away from the time when students' schoolbags were full of books. This is the generation of tablets and 3D Digi books, which allows students to interact with 3D objects by touch. What's more, with virtual reality headsets, students may participate in historic scenes or explore the Pyramids of Giza without leaving the classrooms. Everything may be a feature of schools in years to come. However, only time will tell how many of those possibilities will happen in the future.

Read a text about calories. Choose the best answer to each of the questions.
CALORIES
A calorie, usually associated with food items, is a unit of energy or heat. Nearly every kind of food and drink product contains calories, and some may have more calories than others. Calories are important as they contain the energy needed for a human to survive, including breathing, moving and pumping blood. Humans need to eat in order to get energy from the calories in their daily food, so they eat all types of foods with a wide variety of ingredients, vitamins, nutrients, and other substances that are helpful for the body.
Recently, people have paid more attention to the number of calories, which is measured by how much potential energy the food contains. For example, 1 gram of carbohydrates or 1 gram of protein has 4 calories while a gram of fat has 9 calories. Therefore, a person can determine the amount of energy based on the number of carbohydrates, fats and proteins that the food product contains.
Each person also has a different number of calories needed although approximately 2000 calories are suggested as the average number for most adults per day. The numbers of calories that people need each day differs depending on their height, muscles, gender, age, and activity level. If a person takes in more calories than needed, that person will often become overweight. In contrast, if a person does not get enough calories needed for their body, they will usually lose weight. Hence, counting calories is a good way to help people reach and maintain their weight and fitness goals, as it involves tracking how much energy is going into the body each day.
