A. LÝ THUYẾT

Cấu trúc :

• Điều ước ở hiện tại : ( Present wish )

S + wish (es)+ S + V (quá khứ )

Ex1 : I don’t have a computer.

- I wish I had a computer.

Ex 2 : He is always late for school.

- He wishes He weren’ t always late for school.

• Điều ước ở quá khứ :(Past wish)

S + wish (es) + S + V (quá khứ hoàn thành)

EX 3 : I didn’t know that Windy was ill.

- I wish I had known that Windy was ill.

• Điều ước ở tương lai :(Future wish )

  S + wish(es) +S + would +V(nguyên mẫu)

EX 4: He wishes he would pass the exam .

- Lưu ý : Trong điều ước , were đi với tất cả các ngôi .

Cách dùng

Cấu trúc used to hay cấu trúc used to V được sử dụng để nói về một thói quen, hành động, sự kiện hoặc trạng thái đã từng xảy ra trong quá khứ và không còn xảy ra trong hiện tại nữa. Đôi khi nó được dùng để nhấn mạnh về sự khác biệt giữa hiện thực và quá khứ.

Ví dụ:

Khẳng định (+):

He used to be a long distance runner when he was young_ Anh ấy đã từng là vận động viên chạy bền hồi còn trẻ.

There used to be a cinema here_ Ở đây từng có một rạp chiếu phim

Phủ định (-): 

I didn’t use to go swimming_ Trước kia tôi không thường đi bơi

She didn’t use to drink that much coffee_Trước kia cô ấy không uống nhiều cafe như vậy

Nghi vấn (?):

Did he use to smoke?_ Trước kia anh ta có hút thuốc không?

Did you use to eat meat before becoming a vegetarian?_ Trước khi trở thành người ăn chay thì bạn có ăn thịt không?

Lưu ý:

1. Phủ định của cấu trúc used to V có thể được viết dưới dạng used not to V. Ví dụ:

I used not to go swimming.

She used not to drink that much coffee.

2. Không có thì hiện tại với cấu trúc used to V trong tiếng Anh. Để nói về thói quen trong hiện tại, ta dùng các trạng từ tần suất (usually, always, often, never,...)

3. Used hay use?

Khi trong câu không có “did”, ta dùng “used to” (có d)

Khi trong câu có “did”, ta dùng “use to” (không có d)

Cách dùng

Cấu trúc be used to V-ing được sử dụng để diễn tả ai đó đã từng làm 1 việc gì đó nhiều lần và đã có kinh nghiệm, không còn lạ lẫm với việc đó nữa.

Ví dụ

Khẳng định (+):

I am used to being lied to_Tôi đã quen với việc bị nói dối rồi

He is used to working late_ Anh ấy đã quen với việc làm việc muộn

Phủ định (-): 

He wasn’t used to the heat and he caught sunstroke_Anh ấy không quen với cái nóng và bị bỏng nắng

We aren’t used to taking the bus_Chúng tôi không quen với việc đi xe bus

Nghi vấn (?):

Is she used to cooking?_Cô ấy có quen với việc nấu ăn không?

Are you used to fast food?_Bạn có quen ăn đồ ăn nhanh không?

II. WISH

1. Cấu trúc wish, câu ước là gì, dịch nghĩa như thế nào?

Câu ước là các câu dùng để thể hiện mong muốn, ước mơ của người nói về một sự việc/sự kiện nào đó. Sự việc đó có thể đã không có thật hoặc có thật ở quá khứ,  hiện tại và tương lai.

Câu ước thường gặp nhất ở dạng với cấu trúc WISH hoặc cụm từ “If only”. Tùy theo dữ kiện của câu ở tương lai, hiện tại hay quá khứ mà câu sẽ có cấu trúc khác nhau. 

Ex: 

I wish he were here by my side. Tôi ước anh ấy có ở đây lúc này bên cạnh tôi.

→ cấu trúc wish ở hiện tại 

He wishes he had not gone to bed that late yesterday. Anh ấy ước rằng đã không đi ngủ muộn tới vậy vào ngày hôm qua.

→ cấu trúc wish ở quá khứ

Jamie wishes he would be lucky tomorrow. Jamie ước rằng ngày mai anh ấy sẽ gặp may mắn.

→ cấu trúc wish ở tương lai

2. Các dạng cấu trúc wish thường gặp nhất

2.1. Cấu trúc wish ở hiện tại, ý nghĩa và cách dùng?

Dùng WISH ở thì hiện tại với các dữ kiện không có thật, không xảy ra ở hiện tại; hoặc các giả thuyết trái với hiện tại. Câu wish ở hiện tại cũng mang ý nghĩa thể hiện sự tiếc nuối.

Công thức chung như sau: 

(+) S1 + wish(es) + S2 + V_ed

Ex: I wish I had a Macbook. 

→ Tôi ước là tôi có 1 cái Macbook.

(sự thật là tôi không có cái Macbook nào cả)

(-) S1 + wish(es) + S2 + not + V

Ex: I wish I didn’t have to do the laundry tonight. 

→ Tôi ước gì không phải giặt quần áo vào tối nay.

(sự thật là tối nay tôi phải giặt quần áo)

*Lưu ý:

- Trong cấu trúc này, động từ chính sau S2 lùi về thì quá khứ

- Động từ to be WERE đi với tất cả các chủ ngữ dù là số ít hay nhiều.

Ex: I wish I were rich like Bill Gates. 

→ Tôi ước gì mình giàu như Bill Gates. 

(sự thật là tôi không giàu như Bill Gates.)

Ex: John and his sister wish they were luckier with the game.

→ John và em gái của anh ấy ước rằng họ đã may mắn hơn trong trò chơi.

(sự thật là họ không may mắn)
