*Game:“Guess the animal” elephant, giraffe, monkey - Review the vocabulary from the previous lesson. Describe animals for the class to guess, e.g. It’s big. It’s gray. What is it? (It’s an elephant.). - Start drawing an animal on the board, slowly. Ask students shout out its name when they think they know what animal it is. The first student to guess correctly is the winner. - Praise students if they have done well. àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can say the names of the animalscorrectly. - Task completed: Students can say the names of the animals. - Task uncompleted: Students are unable to say the names of the animals. |
- Listen to the teacher's description. Guess the animal. - Look at the picture of an animal on the board. Shout out its name when they think they know what animal it is. |
PRESENTATION (10 minutes) Aim: To help students identify pets and improve students’ pronunciation skills. | |
*Lead-in: Use Flashcards 51–54 to introduce the new words. - Use the flashcards to introduce the new words. Hold up the cards one at a time and say the words for students to repeat. - Put the flashcards on the board and point to them in a different order for students to repeat again. - Praise students if they have done well. àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can repeat the words correctly. - Task completed: Students can repeat the words. - Task uncompleted: Students are unable to repeat the words. *Listen and point. Repeat (Track 52) - Point to the pictures. Say the words and let the students repeat. - Play the recording. Ask students to point to the correct words. - Play the recording again. Point to the different animals one at a time and ask What is it? - Play the recording for students to listen and point to the pictures when they hear the four new words. - Then play it again as they follow the words in their books. - Recite the words of the song with the class, without the recording. Say each line for students to repeat. - Play the recording again for students to sing along. - Ask some students/groups to perform the song in the front of the class. - Check students’ pronunciation.
