B. Speaking (Trang 32-33-34 SGK Tiếng Anh 12)

Task 1. Practise reading these dialosues, paying attention to how people give and respond to complements in each situation. (Hãy luyện tập các đọc các đoạn hội thoại sau, chú ý cách người ta khen và đáp lại lời khen trong mỗi tình huống.)

Hướng dẫn dịch:

Phil: Barbara, bạn thực sự có cái áo cánh đẹp quá! Mình chưa bao giờ thấy cái áo nào hợp với bạn như thế.

Barbara: Cám ơn bạn, Phil. Đó là lời khen thật tuyệt.

Peter: Cindy. Kiểu tóc của bạn tuyệt quá!

Cindy: Cám ơn, Peter. Tôi nghĩ cuối cùng tôi tìm được kiểu tóc đoan trang và dễ chải.

Tom: Tony, tôi nghĩ ván quần vợt của bạn hôm nay khá hơn nhiều.

Tony: Bạn đùa đấy thôi. Tôi nghĩ nó thật tệ đấy.

Task 2. Work with a partner. Practise giving compliments to suit the responses. Use the cues below. (Làm việc với bạn học. Hãy luyện tập cho lời khen phù hợp với lời đáp lại. Sử dụng các gợi ý dưới đây.)

Gợi ý:

- David: You look really nice with your dress, Kathy!

or     Your dress is very pretty, Kathy!

or     That dress looks lovely on you, Kathy.

- Hung: Wow, your motorbike is terrific.

or     Your motorbike is certainly unique. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before!

- Michael: I didn't know you could play badminton so well!

or     I thought your badminton game was a lot better today, Colin.

Task 3. Work in pairs. Practise responding to the compliments below. (Làm việc theo cặp. Luyện tập đáp lại các lời khen dưới đây.)

Gợi ý:

- You: Thanks, Phil. That's very nice of you to say so.

- You: Thank you, Peter. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

- You: Thanks. That's a nice compliment, but sometimes I think I'm not so good at all.

Task 4. Work with a partner. Make dialogues to practise giving and responding to compliments, using the cues below. (Làm việc với bạn học. Hãy làm các cuộc đối thoại để thực hành khen và đáp lại lời khen, sử dụng gợi ý dưới đây.)

Gợi ý:

- một cặp mắt kính đẹp

A: That's a nice pair of glasses. Where did you buy it?

B: Oh, thank you. It's from that optician's down on Ba Trieu Street.

- một chiếc đồng hồ mới và đắt tiền

A: Hey, I really like your new watch.

B: Oh, thanks. I just got it yesterday.

- một chiếc điện thoại di động mới

A: I do like your cell phone. Is it new?

B: Thank you. I got it for my birthday last week.

- một đôi giày trông hiện đại

Nam: Your new shoes are nice, Hoa.

Hoa: I hate them, Nam. I think they look kind of funny on my feet.

- một chiếc áo khoác hợp thời trang

Nam: That jacket looks lovely on you, Mai!

Mai: Thanks. I knew I had to have it the moment I saw it in the window.
