Secondary school curricula often spark debates regarding their composition, with some advocating for mandatory art and music education. I firmly believe that all students should be required to study art and music during their secondary education.
Firstly, exposure to art and music fosters creativity, which is essential for personal development. Engaging in these subjects allows students to explore their creative potential, enhancing problem-solving skills and innovative thinking. For example, students who participate in art and music classes learn to approach problems from different perspectives, which can be valuable in other academic and real-life situations. Additionally, art and music education can serve as a stress relief, providing students with a healthy emotional outlet and improving their overall well-being. Studies have shown that participation in creative activities can reduce anxiety and improve mental health, which is crucial during the often-stressful teenage years.
Moreover, studying art and music can improve academic performance and social skills. Learning to play an instrument or appreciating visual art requires discipline and focus, which are transferable skills that can benefit students in other academic areas. For example, the practice and dedication needed to master an instrument or create a piece of art help students hone their time management and concentration skills, which have been proven essential in studies and exam preparation. Furthermore, art and music classes encourage collaboration and communication among peers, as these subjects often involve group projects and performances, fostering teamwork and social interaction. This collaborative environment helps students develop better interpersonal skills, which are essential for success in both academic and professional settings.
In conclusion, art and music education should be made compulsory in secondary school as it enhances creativity, reduces stress, improves academic performance, and equips students with essential skill sets.

Educational curricula often prioritize subjects like math and science, but the inclusion of art and music is frequently debated. This essay evaluates whether these creative subjects should be compulsory, considering both their universal benefits and the practical challenges of such a mandate.
Mandatory art and music education in secondary schools offers significant advantages. Firstly, these subjects foster creativity, a crucial skill in today's innovation-driven economy. Studies, such as those conducted by the National Endowment for the Arts, show that students engaged in art perform better in problem-solving tasks. Secondly, arts education supports emotional development, providing a valuable outlet for expression and stress relief. The American Psychological Association highlights that students participating in arts exhibit lower levels of anxiety and depression. Lastly, early exposure to the arts can prepare students for careers in the creative industries, which are becoming an increasingly important part of the global economy.
However, implementing mandatory art and music classes across all secondary schools faces several hurdles. Diverse student interests mean that not everyone may benefit from or enjoy these subjects, potentially leading to disengagement. Moreover, the financial cost of providing universal access to quality arts education can be prohibitive for many schools, especially those already struggling with limited resources.
While the benefits of art and music education are manifold, making them compulsory for all secondary students is impractical due to the diversity of student interests and significant financial constraints. A more feasible approach would be to offer these subjects as electives, ensuring students who are interested can explore these areas without making it an obligatory part of the educational program for everyone. This compromise supports educational diversity and resource allocation, maintaining access to the arts while respecting individual preferences and institutional capabilities.

The notion that art and music should be mandatory subjects in secondary school is a topic of much debate. While some argue that these creative disciplines are crucial for holistic development, others believe they should be optional to not detract from academic focus. I firmly believe that the incorporation of art and music into the secondary school curriculum is beneficial for students.
Art and music play a pivotal role in the cultivation of creativity and emotional intelligence. These subjects provide a much-needed balance to the predominantly intellectual and logical focus of traditional academic subjects. By engaging in artistic and musical endeavors, students can develop their problem-solving skills, enhance their ability to think outside the box, and foster a sense of aesthetic appreciation. Additionally, art and music can act as an outlet for self-expression and stress relief, promoting mental well-being.
Moreover, studies have shown that students who engage in the arts tend to perform better academically. This is attributed to the fact that creative activities stimulate brain areas related to learning and memory. By learning to play a musical instrument or create art, students can also learn discipline, persistence, and the reward of hard work, traits that are transferable to any field of study or career.
Opponents of mandatory art and music education argue that not all students are inclined towards these subjects and that such a requirement would be an unnecessary burden. However, the purpose of education is to produce well-rounded individuals who are exposed to a wide range of knowledge and experiences. While not all students will become artists or musicians, the skills and cultural literacy gained through the study of these subjects are invaluable.
In conclusion, requiring students to study art and music in secondary school offers a range of intellectual, emotional, and cultural benefits that extend far beyond the classroom. It equips students with essential life skills and enhances their academic and personal development. Therefore, I contend that all students should indeed partake in art and music education during their formative years in secondary school.

The issue about whether all students should be required to study art and music in secondary school is one that is open for debate. Some people believe that students should take these classes. However, others think that it must be up to the student. In this essay, I will analyze both these positions and present my opinion in favour of the people who think that studying art and music should not be required in secondary school.
On the one side, studying art and music brings many benefits to the students. First of all, it extends their range of interests. Second, studying art and music helps reveal hidden talents and possibilities. In addition to these benefits, it helps a growing child develop his or her perception of the real world.
However, on the other side, studying art and music also has some negative aspects. I think a person interested in mathematics should not spend his or her precious time taking classes in art or music. For example, when I was a student a couple of years ago, I did not like attending some art classes because they were too boring for me. I wasted my time and money because I had to pay for and attend these classes. So, my point is that students should have the right to decide whether they should take classes in art and music or not. For instance, there were a couple of optional classes in music at my university. Many students took those classes, and everyone was satisfied.
To sum up, I think that studying art and music is essential for a person. However, I believe that classes in art and music must be optional because if a student is dreaming about a career as a dentist and spends all his spare time reading about the new technologies and inventions in this field, I think it is not fair to make him attend classes when he does not want to. It is like making a person sing when he is good at swimming.

School subjects have been an appealing topic and have attracted much social concern in recent decades. Secondary teachers now decide that it is essential that art and music become compulsory subjects. Personally, I agree with this decision.
First and foremost, what I put my priority in is self-perfection. It cannot be denied that the requirement to attend art and music class puts students in an abundance of classes to attend. With such great number of subjects, they have to make a wise, suitable, and well-organized schedule. This leads to the formation of the time-management skill which is of great necessity in the pursuit of success. More interestingly, when being forced to get involved in art and music classes, students are given the opportunities to discover themselves. In other words, when they are exposed to these new subjects, they stand a golden chance not to develop an interest in art and music but also to find their hidden talents. As a result, students have a wider range of pastimes to choose from and possibly a new passion. By and large, participation in art and music classes are sure to create chances for students to improve and better themselves.
In the second place, personal enjoyment holds no less an important role. It is well-noted that when joining in these extra-curriculum classes, secondary students express themselves more than in regular classes. They are likely to understand each other more and more. Apparently, students are very beneficial from these classes as their relationships are tightened and nourished day by day. They are sure to stay happy. More importantly, students attending these classes are assigned many pieces to practice. The nature of art and music is that they are often difficult to master, one may do or play correctly, but not beautifully or mellifluously. Therefore, students gradually form a new characteristic - patience. With this new personality, they are bound to achieve success in their future, which adds joy to their lives. With no doubt, students need to participate in art and music classes, as they bring happiness and joy to them.
Some people might say that with all those art and music classes, there will be less time spent on schoolwork. This will easily lead to their children's study deficiency. However, that is not necessarily the case. Art and music classes often take up an insignificant amount of their time as they are carefully calculated by the schools' staffs and faculties. On top of that, this is the moment when students are allowed to stay away from and keep their mind off the tiring work. They will be then absolutely relaxed and indulged in the magical world of art and music. Now that most of their tension is released, their results won't be worsened, but better than ever.
All in all, self-completion, individual satisfaction and study efficiency are convincing reasons for my agreement. It is crucial that school faculties and teachers take my piece of writing into great consideration to make an appropriate guideline on academic subjects.
