There are many features that can define a person's cultural identity, from the language he uses to the food he eats. However, the way one behaves in different situations is the most important feature of all to determine his cultural identity.

Firstly, our behaviour usually represents our age group, education, family background in which we grew up, including even childhood experiences far back in the past. For example, in response to an insult, older people can keep calm, control the situation and solve it better than young people can. Youngsters can easily get frustrated. Similarly, it can be observed that behavior varies from people who had happy childhood and those who grew up surrounded by violence and crime. The former tends to behave in a harmonious way while the latter are likely to get angry and rude manner.

In addition, besides telling who we are, behaviour can also indicate our culture of origin. Take Vietnamese students studying overseas for example, they are often seen as very helpful and always willing to share their lecture notes with struggling classmates. However, in communication with other people, they may be considered as too quiet or passive, and reluctant to speak, even if invited.

In conclusion, the way we behave defines our cultural identity. Our behaviour can represents our personality as well as the social group we are in.
